Postdoc: Understanding and predicting shallow cumulus formation over land

Perform many runs with cloud model CM1 to simulate and understand the formation of shallow cumulus clouds over land from early morning until early afternoon. Machine learn the relation between meteorological variables of the early morning and of the afternoon, and fine-tune the machine learning with assimilation results. 2-year position. In collaboration with profs Van Leeuwen and Chiu.

Postdoc/programmer: Nonlinear data assimilation in ocean model MOM6

Modify the ocean model MOM6 configuration to focus attention on Indian-Atlantic interocean exchange, within the data-assimilation framework JEDI. Perform high-resolution fully nonlinear data assimilation with a Particle Flow Filter using all observations available. Analyze results using fully nonlinear causal discovery. Can be part-time and full time, funding for 2 years. In collaboration with PhD student Hao-Lun Yeh and Prof Van Leeuwen.
